Similar call. When I asked when the last error message he received was he was vague, saying only the last few days. When I said we have multiple computers can he tell me which one. He could not give an computer ID. He identified himself as Rick Johnson, Employee ID 786 (long pause) 01, from Windows Support Service Department.
A call at my office from "Alex Carter" of "Windows Technical Support" saying that my computer is sending Error messages and will crash in the near future. He can help prevent this for nothing, and here is how.....Then he told me move around on my keyboard. I told him that I have a MAC, but he persisted, saying that I had a Windows Operating System. Of course not, but I let him talk and then got his information and said I would call him back. Heavy Indian accent. My husband called him back from our private phone, and Alex Carter answered. When my husband said that this party has a MAC, he made multiple excuses and hung up. Scam.

Same call this time from "Jack Williams". Foreign sounding voice. Interesting how the names are such common names. I took down his number and said I would call him back. I didn't. Too many bad people out there. He wanted me to turn on my computer and he would "walk me through the fix". Hah!
