These scammers use aliases & so will I. First of all, if you are foolish enough to give these scammers your bank account info, they may try to clean you out. This happened to me; right after I sent a payment with my card I got a call from my bank security department saying someone was using my card number to buy expensidev stuff in a store. I had to close my card number down and got another one. Second, these people are criminal scammers because they pretend to be law enforcement or court officers about to issue a "summons" and "charges against you". This is a violation of the Fair debt collection act. Report these people to the Federal Trade Commission and police. They are breaking the law.  Bugs Bunny.

There refusal to identify themselves or send you a WRITTEN notice of the debt you supposedly owe is also a big violation of the Fair debt collection protection law. Record their calls when you can--they can be used as evidence against them. You can sue them for $10,000 for each single call. Kaching!

Here are a couple of links from the Federal Trade Collection warning about scam debt collectors--very good

www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection

www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0258-fakedebt-collectors

The second one deals specifically with fake debt collection scams, but the first one is also good.

I wonder if these debt collection scammers are the same as "URG" ("United Receivables Group")?
