321-024-5698 ... Same here ... I have at least 6 numbers & am on DNC list that I have both State & Feds "researching" ... So far they are both useless ... Think I'll just get an Iridium Phone ;-) ... 918-570-5402 calls at least 4 to 6 times a day but are blocked. I still log them as I'd like my part of any $100K + settlement (probably about like chances of winning the lottery :-( )
Received call today and after my second "Hello?!", a robotic voice said, "Hello... this is Jonathan Tyler. How are YOU today?" I said, "Are you real?" and hung up.
Besides laws on unsolicited commercial calls, I wish they hard laws with harsher penalties for spoofing a caller-id number.
The "024" part of this number is not a sequence allowed by standard known as "North American Numbering
Plan", which ays the 'exchange' (the 3 digits after the area code ) cannot start with zero or one.
So of course you can't call back, it's an invalid number with a zero in that location.
So it is obviously spoofed.
If the caller id standard always forced an id number, even when anonymous, this wouldn't be an issue. If the ID was a 'one way hash' (google it if you want) of your number, the caller's ANI number, and a 'salt' number, then you'd have a constant ID number you could block, but still would be 'anonymous' for the caller.
