27WorldWide.com contacted me from 321-332-0724 on my mobile and 866 voice message line within one minute of each other. Both were registered on the National Do NOT Call list. I have filled complaints with the them, the FCC and the Attorney General of WA State.
As a teen and young adult I put myself through collage as a very successful tele-marketer. I still volunteer for political and not for profits which I support. I was always respectful of the callees request for no contact or decline for products or services. Because I was “good” at tele-sales my managers deferred to my tactics. But most telemarketing offices are boiler rooms. The worst was the “Christian” supposedly non-profit, MDS communications in Tempe Arizona. I worked there in the early '90s. It was sickening how managers emotionally and spiritually badgered and shamed us to in turn emotionally and spiritually badger the targets to extract at lest $7.00 to brake-even for the cost to call them. Tele-specialist would read from a screen with customized scripts created in real-time as local, statewide and national event or just speculation could be spun to leveraging the donors on the call list. One call would be for John McCain, then Focus on the Family, the next a Right to Life organizations followed by fund raising for the National Riffle Association. (Guns don't kill children, abortionist do.)
My final call was to a sweet frail voiced women of obviously advanced years. She was gasping for air as she wept in agony over her dilemma to send MDS her last $3 dollars instead of eating until her next social security check; because she couldn't “face Jesus when they're killing the babies”. Well I lost it! I went off script and started quoting scripture. “Jesus would want you eat and buy your medication... this place rakes in the money... The Bible says if you have a second coat give that the one without." Ya I know about the poor widow of Mark 12:42 who gave all she had, TO THE TEMPLE not James Dobson, Pat Robertson or Charlton Heston. I was discounted from my little old lady. My screen went blank I was handed a dismissal notice and escorted off the property as I continued to voice my distant for what MDS was doing. They are still operating. I would love to see them investigated by 60 Minutes or CNN or the Attorney General.
