I guess I was one of the lucky ones. Got a call from this number but all there was was dead air on the phone, so I just put the receiver on the carpet to see how long they would wait before they terminated the call.
I figured that they were the ones that interrupted me, so I just want to repay the favor.
Plus in so doing, you are keeping them from hanging up and immediately calling someone else.

AGAIN, you eat into their profit margin by keeping them on the line so that they can't just immediately call and bother someone else.
