Never give donations to a stranger who calls you. Might be a scammer. Might be a legit independent fund raiser who keeps 99% for themselves and sends 1% to the charity. Best to donate directly to the charity so they will get 100% of your donation.
Numerous frequent calls from what seems to be a block of numbers, all 321, and all with "Brevard County" in the Caller ID. Research leads me to believe they all belong to a local police charity. A charity, which identifies itself as being with the county? Many calls, and so far not one of these people has left a successful, coherent, polite message. One left a message with only my mother's first-name, which I felt somewhat threatening. Today, got one that babbled something and then hung up. I certainly don't feel impressed enough to donate money to people like this.
Received call Apr 7 2009 from this number. Man said it was Fraternal Order of Police calling every cell phone in Brevard County, because so many people only have cell phones.
Apparently this is a Brevard County Sheriff's charity organization. I have done some research, and there are *MANY* phone numbers involved. They all have a 321 area code, and they all say "Brevard County" in the caller ID. However, so far, not one of the people on the other end, retired police officers I've heard, not one of them has been able to leave a normal, polite, non-creepy message when prompted. One caller simply stated my mother's first-name, then hung up. Today's caller mumbled some words and then hung up. Why would anyone feel compelled to donate? Because they're such polite messages?
I told them I couldn't donate (3months ago) and here they are calling again like a rabbid dog. Caller ID only said COUNTY. Used to say FOP or BREVARD COUNTY.
