Just got a call from this number. It's something about credit card interest rates. They do not identify themselves properly, so you know it's crap.
If you don't recognize it, don't answer it. I've blocked it from calling us. The DNC list is bogus!
I continually get calls from this number. The 321 area code is in the Melbourne (Brevard Co.) area ,infamous for all sorts of scam calls. There seems to be a very busy scam call center in that area. I just do not answer calls from unrecognized numbers but people should not have to put up with this. I do not mind answering political surveys but when they employ these call centers ,no one wants to answer because we're inundated with scam calls on a daily basis. I get at least 3 every day. I find that local area codes are being used more, I guess because they think people will be more likely to answer. I'm guessing these are the ludicrous jobs where people are getting rich "working from your own home".
I would like to suggest that the V...... is a spammer routing code so that the call is untraceable. For example, my call from 321-781-999 displayed a caller ID of V07121319400053.
Deciphering this, the V0712 is today's date. They called me on July 12th. The actual number that issued the call was 131-940-0053. You can look this number up on the internet. Area code can be for Scotland or India. That is where the spammer routed the call through.
The number that appears as the called ID number can be anything, but is usually a phone number that you would accept as local. It does not have to be real. I suspect that each spammer is issued a non-working number that is actually used as an accounting code.
A call saying will lower interest rate, I am so tired of telemarketers . We need to put a stop to them!! We know the government won't help nor the phone companies. Any one got other ideas?
they know because if you use your head ummmmmmmmmmm how would places know what numbers not to call if they didnt give it to them to add to there do not call commen sense
Robo calling service. The number itself doesn't actually ring back to anything. It's simply used to call out. It's used for political solicitations, charity solicitations, opinion surveys and other time wasting crap.
The thing is, they are likely legit. Or gray line. At least by the way they got our numbers. It's probably because at some point in history, even years ago, you likely opted into something without reading the fine print. And you've probably done it dozens of times since. Everyone does.
People do this almost every day by giving their phone number when signing up for a service, gift card, store points system, survey, online form, feedback, contest, donations etc. Despite porivacy policies (and even due to them) all that data is usually farmed out to a "Partner" company, these data silos are then managed within their partnership ecosystem. And they can use it within that ecosystem unless you explicitly opt out with them all.
The DNC list was not made for these types of centralized data services. It's old and needs to be revamped for the current age. The DNC is really only meant to prevent unrelated companies from cold calling you or harassing you.
