This number called me early last year, and they had everything from my name to my debit card number. I asked them how they knew all those things then they hung up. I tried calling them back, but I got the "busy" signal. Checked my account and they stole over $200 from me. I went to the bank and we called the Fraud Department, and it turns out this number belongs to a fraud company. I got my money back and got a new card, but they keep contacting me! They actually just called and asked me if i wanted to pay with some special discount, and if I didn't they were going to have the credit bureaus call me or something like that.. This is freaking B.S.
After many calls where no one spoke when I answered, finally when I picked up someone spoke. I wanted to find out why these people keep pestering me. There is something very wrong going on here. It started out as something vague about magazines, but the information he gave had nothing to do with me, so I think it's some sort of fishing expedition. He kept pressing me for identifying information (he knew my name, but wanted to "verify" my date of birth, and was annoyed that I wouldn't just answer his questions). When I told him I chose not to give him my date of birth, he hung up while I was in min-sentence.
I believe these people are trying to scam us, not renew magazine subscriptions.
They called me and the lady (Marie) said that she was calling from the company that sends my magazines and that she didn't think I was really (my name). She claimed that she talked to someone earlier who said they were me and that they sounded much younger than me. So she asked for my date of birth so that she could verify I was who I said I was.
I kept asking her why she needed this info and what company this was. She just got more and more upset when I would refuse to give her the info she wanted. She finally said that it was obvious that I was not who I say I am and hung up.
She was totally unprofessional and was trying a few different strategies to get info from me. When the whole "somebody is using your name" trick didn't work, she tried to bully it out. Thankfully they got nothing from me. I hope they don't have anything other than my first name and phone number though.
Called on two different days, late in afternoon. Had my first name. Asked my wife to put me on phone. Refused to identify themselves. Claimed to have some rebate for me. Lef the 321 telephone number. On cll back, no dial tone or signal.
I do not know these people, nor do I do business with them. I have filed a complaint on the National Do No Call Registry, as I am registered with them, and my next step it to contact their local BBB to file a complaint with them as well.
