Windows support number from India fraud - scam.
Caller talks about a "Windows" support refund check for over $200 and asks you to go to:
http://www.teamviewer.com/en/index.aspx and open your computer for remote control.
they then open a website from your desktop and ask you to enter your credit card information which they claim they will send the refund to. The call gets convoluted as they ask to bill you around $275 and they will refund you $475...blah, blah, blah.
If you refused they will delete files from your computer if you do not end the remote control session before they can damage your computer.
the company is making many multiple calls in the afternoon ranging from noon-4pm PST.
The phone number that they call from is different than the number above (I did not have caller ID), but the number provided was given as a call back number for them which was provided by a supervisor that was trying to convince me to allow remote control access to my system.

As described by Steven.  I refused to follow their directions to receive my $249 refund.  The message is that in a few days, Windows will not continue to provide support and therefore I am entitled to a refund.  To obtain a refund I was to follow their instructions.  They woudl not send me an e-mail with the instructions or a package of material to show why I would be entitled to a refund.  The person could not tell me what it was I purchased that would entitle me to a refund.  The person offered to have their supervisor talk to me.  The person, with a very strong SE Asian (Indian) accent, identified himself as Charlie Allen, and that I could call Windows at 1323-2500-569.  If I hadn't already been very suspicious, the fact he recited the number repeatedly in this fashiion convinced me it was likley a scam.

Same scam as others have described.  Told them to simply mail me the refund (THEY HAVE MY ADDRESS ON FILE!) or email me conformation.  They said no they want to access my computer through team viewer.  Is there no way to stop this?  I am on a no call list and have repeatedly asked them to remove me.  They do not will not!

Sadly, the most you can do is block them - if your phone does not have a block feature, you may want to Google call blockers - you can buy a good one for $60 or less.  Oh, and they won't remove anyone from their list - they're scammers so no point getting upset when they refuse to obey the law.

Pretty much the same call as others have described.  However I also recognized the call as a scam and played along for about 45 minutes.   He stayed with the need for me to send $200 in order to send me back the supposed $60 refund.  The reason being that their accountants would not allow checks for less than $200.00  (Note: Even though I intentionally mispoke and said that I was to send $2,000 he held to $200.  He once said $300 but corrected that statement.) The interesting thing (sparing all the details) is that they were able to determine a relevant name from our telephone number. I claimed that no one by that name was at the number.  We also, after much discussion and stalling on my part, got to the point where I was to go to a local big box store and wire the money to them.  The scammer actually provided me with the store name and address:  based, I think, on the telephone area code and an associated zip code.  ( I refused to confirm the telephone number and I know I did not give them a zipcode.)  I did get a wire address in Bengal India along with the caller's "name" (John Machew as I understood him.)  When he asked when I would wire the money ($200) I told called him out and got cursed out.  And he was not even good at that.

Anyway found out I can set up Nomorobo and start blocking out these scam calls.  And other unwanted callers as well.
