Who called from 3233162380

In the last 2 weeks, we have received 10 calls from this phone number -- which we do not recognize -- even though we are on the Do Not Call list.
CallerIDs have been either  "LOS ANGELES  CA" or "3233162380", which suggests the caller is a telemarketer.
All of these calls were blocked by our call-blocking device, so our phone never rang.

YES! Got a few of these myself and just answered to find out who it could be. I answered simply by saying: "Hello." There was 3 seconds of silence. A woman responded by saying: "Hello." I followed with: "Hi!" She asks for me by my last name. I say: "That's me!" She ID's herself, not by her name, but as the Fraternal Order Of Police and continues to inform me that the call is being recorded for quality purposes. She was operating off of a script just like regular telemarketers will do. She thanks me for my past donations and is contacting me again for one this year. (I know from past experiences that FOP pulls their lists from the County Register of Voters by sight, meaning someone is handwriting a list and not by computer. They had my address off by one character.)

My polite response is: "I cannot commit to anything over the phone. I will need to have your information mailed to me." She continues to ask for amounts that reflect a Gold Level, down to a Bronze Level. I politely repeat: "I cannot commit to anything over the phone, I will need to review it in writing." She politely pushes saying: "I wouldn't want to burden you with this call but we also have levels as low as $15 and ten dollars." I politely respond: "I cannot commit to anything over the phone, you will need to mail it to me in writing." She then asks me if my address is correct after stating what she has in front of her, and I tell her she is off by one character. It is corrected by her when she slows down reading it and then she asks me: "After you receive this in the mail, can I count on you for your support and contribution?" I politely responded: "I cannot commit to anything over the phone. You can tell it in her voice that she is discouraged at this point.

We are aware that many people are passing themselves off as reputable charity organizations and it is always best to brush off "cold callers" by having them provide you everything in writing. Pressure calls are just that, pressure. Just have an open ear, be polite, and wait for them to make the mistakes.

After the call had ended, we looked up the number and could not verify it was actually the Fraternal Order of Police. The area code is just outside downtown Los Angeles but it could still be a spoofed number. There are different Fraternal Order of Police organizations and this caller did NOT state which one she was call for.

As usual, we always insist that you do your own research and NEVER rely on hearsay. In this matter, we merely felt it was important enough to post our experience with the 323-316-2380 phone number.
