It doesn't help to scream at them. They know they're creeps and are proud of it. If you get mad at them, they think it's funny. Either hang up or say something like "Oh, no, the oven -- just a minute" then leave them hanging. The more of their time you waste the less profit they make.
Got the exact same call as above. The guy said he was from windows 7(why would Microsoft be working on outdated software?), told me that my computer was showing error messages and told me to turn it on. I gave my brother the phone since he knows more about computers than me as I thought it sounded fishy. The guy tells my brother to turn on our computer, my brother asks which one, then asks how he knows if the computers are off. My brother humors the guy and turns on one of the computers, he doesn't say anything though and the guy asks if he turned it on. My brother asks that didn't the guy just tell him that he knew that the computers were off? Wouldn't it tell him that the computer was on. My brother then tells him yes, it is on the main screen and the guy tells him to open the command prompt and my brother laughed and hung up on him.
Some guy with an Indian accent said they "detected" problems with my Windows computer. He told me, not asked me, to turn on my computer ... it was already on, if they so bright, they should have been able to tell that before calling!!!! I knew it was a scam, but I should have played along with this [***]. When he asked me to do something, I shoulda replied, "my computer is telling me that you are full of $hit"
Got this call the other day -- hung up on the guy and he called me back! Called again today (1/27/14) but there was no one there when I said hello. I have an old Dell with Windows XP and I know I have some problems, but I'm not going to let someone I don't know NEAR my computer!!!
