I get calls several times a day. I usually do not answer, but when I do try to answer, they just hang up. They sometimes will leave a recorded message for someone I've never heard of. This is very annoying!
This is a debt collection company that will call and harrass you into setting up a payment plan for past due and charged off credit card debts(they purchase these debts for pennies on the dollar from the major credit card companies and anything they collect is theirs) Even if the statute of limitations to collect the debts are already up-they will still call you. Do not talk to these people unless you want to be harrassed-if you talk to them they can report your debt as current on your credit report and the statue of limitations will start over again.
jillian...i too have had this allied interstate call me. i did not answer the phone because i did not know the number. they left no message on my answering service...so i just disregarded it and everytime they call. this to everyone........get caller id. if you get a call and do not recognize the number and/or if you get the message it is from 'unknown', 'not provided', 'out of area' just don't pick up. they can leave a message. it took some time but i broke myself from running to the phone everytime it rings. now, if i am close to a phone and know the person who is calling i will answer. if i am not available to answer just that moment...i let it ring and whoever it is can leave a message and i will call them back. don't be a slave to your phone. if you are expecting a call then by all means go to the phone and check the name and number. be like me...dump the urge to break your neck to answer on the first or second ring.
They keep calling and are very abusive and threating. When we ask what it is he yells and states he is talking and dont interupt and says we have to pay on a account that is not there and will not provide any info on their so call account in collections. He has said he is Tom Hansen but no one in the company and verify that. We have reported them to us attorney general, Ohio attorney general, and to the phone list.
Each day I wish I didn't have a recycled phone number that belonged to a deadbeat woman named Shirley who apparently owes lots of people money.
That said, this is a collection agency that won't stop calling you no matter what you do. They just don't care. They get paid a percentage of what they recover so they will keep trying even if the information they have is wrong. All you can do is not answer.
