I'm assuming this is a debt collector, although I'm not entirely sure. I have had a magicjack telephone number that was my full-time phone # for a couple of years about 4 years ago, since then it is just being used to forward to my cell phone. Someone named AL continuously calls this number and keeps threatening me because I am "impeding his investigation" by not giving him my EX-WIFE's phone number or address, neither of which I know. Now he has found out that we have a son who lives in the area and assumes (rightly) that he is in touch with his mother, but I'm not willing to give him my son's information so he can continually harass my son and his family the way he has done to me. I've asked him repeatedly to stop calling me and offered to fax him PROOF that I'm divorced (after 29 years of marriage) from the person he's looking for, but he just calls me a liar and then hangs up and calls back within a few days saying the same thing each time he calls "My name is Al and I'm calling to let you know that we'll be coming to serve <ex-wife> with papers today and I need to speak with her immediately" and each time I tell him Al, we're divorced, we have been since March of 2013 and I couldn't get in touch with her even IF I wanted to. He calls me a liar, lather, rinse, repeat.

They called twice a few months ago to serve legal documents and were trying to verify a physical address using a 7 year-old post office box I used to have. I told them that was the only address I had since I lived in my RV. A couple of weeks later, they called again and said they would be serving papers that day between 9 and 4. So I replied, "Good. I used to be a process server and I'll be waiting." Nothing happened. They just tried again five minutes ago. Ah well.
I just received a call from 323-393-1028. It was the same thing as reported above. Will I be home on Monday so they can serve me with legal papers. When I asked by whom they said to Call 1-877-214-1813 and refer to a case number and they will be able to give you the specifics. Thankfully I have an iPhone and with iOS7 you can block numbers so hopefully I won't be receiving any more calls from this number. I'll just keep blocking whichever number they call from.
