Called me two days in a row. Answered on day 2 and was told the IRS was opening a legal case against me. I inquired since I always pay taxes and didn't know what he was talking about. He transferred me to "Legal," where another guy with a thick access said some case numbers and told me not to interrupt him until he was finished. I said I'd interrupt if I needed to. He proceeded to tell me I haven't paid my taxes; I disagreed. He rudely reminded me not to interrupt and then hung up.
I called back. Same dude answered, "Dept of Legal Affairs, US Treasury." yeah, riiiiiight. busted.
This is a scam. Caller claimed to be from Department of Legal Affairs. They claim to be from the government or IRS. They claim they will sue you, or arrest you. They may call back multiple times. They may seem polite, or they may try being rude and aggressive. Basically, they just want to steal your personal information.

One thing to note is that a lot of the reports say the callers have thick Indian accents. They may be trying to improve this, because my caller tried his best American accent. It still sounded awkward. But it is still something to watch out for, as the scammers try to get more sophisticated.
My wife got a call from this number today & she told him she wasn't interested. Then the guy called back and left a message claiming leagal action. Definatly a scam. Wish I had answered the phone. I would have played with him for a while. Love hassling these phone scam people! :-)
Received call from this number as well...citing legal action and i should have my attorney contact them immediately if I didn't want further action. And yes, it was a gentleman by the name of Paul Smith, with a heavy Indian Accent. I tried to call back, of course, they weren't available, so I left a rude message.
