Scam for Breast Cancer Research & Support Fund that keeps all the donations for themselves. Very close name to the Breast Cancer Research Council, which is legit when googled. Lady knew my name and called at 7:45 pm along with some computer voices to ask if she can send me a form so "the ladies who can't pay for medical care" can count on me for help. Played dumb for a while to waste her time & then said I had to research the organization, so she hung up. Blocked her from calling again. Guess my cell phone number has been compromised and distributed on the net now with my name, so even being on the "Do Not Call" list will not stop these shady scammers from calling, since they claim to be charities. What a pain these oxygen-wasters are!
Fake breast cancer fund robo-scammers.
First call from this number, and I answered fast and actually talked to a person.
Claimed to be 'Breast Cancer Research & Support Fund' and asked for my support pledge.
Of course I declined and she hung up.
Got a call from female claiming to be from "Breast Cancer Research and Support Foundation" Asked for hubby by name and then went into sales pitch about sending out a donation envelope so he could mail in a donation. I asked how long their organization had been in business and she didn't know but stated it was a national organization. I then asked if it was the one recently on the news regarding non profits who were investigated for scamming people out of money and only using 3% of donations to assist patients and their families? She promptly hung up!
Unfortunately, since they are a registered 501(c)(3) non profit organization as of right now, the FCC will not do anything at all. After their criminal investigation is completed and if their non profit status is taken away, and they continue to make phone call solicitations, then and only then will the FCC take action because then they won't have the protection of non-profits being exempt from the DO NOT CALL LIST. I think this should be changed.
This is the second call I have received from a fraud based call. The first was one day and unfortunately I have already blocked the number and deleted the callso I do not have it to list. Somehow they bypass this by using a different number.
