The name provided with this number was "Jonathan Edwards". YOu get a ccording iwhgt a freig accent when reached. The caller would not say which divison, office, or subagency of U.S. Treasury with or the physical location (City, State) calling from. I told the caller were they were fraudsters as I am actually with the U.S. govt so know that everything (notification) is done by offical U.S. mail only, my nephew is also with the FBI back east in NYC but the FBI won't bother with crooks like these. The US Treasury has many subagencies such as the IRS being 1 of them.
they called my house and left a message from "L.A. Legal Affairs" that I was the subject of a lawsuit and needed to call back. I called 323-473-3130 and got voice mail for "Brian King" of the "U.S. Treasury". I chose to not leave a message. Googling any of these details only turns up links to fraud cases, etc.
This was the first place I could find to DO ANYTHING with this information. I wish we could quickly get the phone # cancelled and back track to not allow similar scammers to even get connected to our phone system in the U.S. Some action, any action.
A guy, named Jonathan Edward from Dept of Legal Affair of US Treasury, called my house and told me that there was a legal claim filed against my husband. At first, it took me by surprise. And this guy didn't have those usual strong accent either. Then, he gave me his name and phone number (323)473-3130. He told me that US Treasury has been trying to reach my husband via mails and emails. He finally had to call home, since Us Treasury couldn't get hold of him. He couldn't give me the website address for US Treasury, when I asked him for it. As soon as I got his phone number, I googled his number in the computer while I was talking to him. Thank goodness to all of you who have posted those notes before me. I hung up the phone and called police. A policeman told me to disregard it and told me that I could report on scam in the website of Federal Trade Commission.
