Caller ID showed 323-485-9933. They call every few days, never leave a message on the machine, and both times I answered, pleasantly, with the intention of finding out who it was (and eventually asking them to take us off their list), they just hung up without engaging in conversation. Second time was a slick-sounding young woman, who also hung up after she said "hello hello."
If they don't want to talk--WHY DO THEY KEEP CALLING? (We pay for an unlisted number--AND are on the "Do Not call" registry...)
Bozo's just called and did the standard scam, i asked who was calling-they had my name and wouldn't let me get a word in said I had contacted them some time back to do some work-I don't own my home-I DID NOT CONTACT these jerks. I kept trying to ask a question and this guy just kept talking over me-I just hung up on him. Really do they get ANYONE TO respond? I'm blocking their number. I'm on the do not call list-a lot of help that does. Don't need this harassment.
One way to stop a lot of these calls is to play along with them and agree to have a quote for home improvement.
They will phone numerous times to confirm appointment. Either don't answer the door when they show up or answer the door and quickly tell them you changed your mind and shut the door. I prefer to step outside and tell them I changed my mind but that might not be for everyone. Don't mention the phone calls and don't discuss it any further.
Just think how many companies would stop this contact method if almost everyone did this.
Our best defense against these parasites is to ignore, block and report them. They are relentless. This whole area code seems to be given over to telemarketing creeps. Aggravating morons, the lot of them.
Same thing. Had my name, a woman named "Katie" said she had spoken with me before about home remodeling. I asked her who the company was and she said "Altadena Home Improvements". I said I did need work done, could she please give me the company address and phone number so I could check them out with the BBB before inviting them into my home. She said sure, hang on, and then hung up on me.
