Said name was Steve Martin (!), threatened legal action by the US Treasury, said this was 2nd attempt to contact. English was definitely not his first language. Called at 7:08 in the morning, that was the first clue that it probably was a scam.
This guy left a message saying the same as above. From the treasury and if we didn't call him back we would have to go before the magistrate. Scared my kids. I don't like getting home and hearing this on my machine. AND I REALLY DON'T LIKE PEOPLE SCARING MY KIDS!!
Harassing phone calls claiming to be US Department of Treasury. They left an automated message that it's the second attempt to contact us. When I called the number someone with a heavy accent said my husband, by name, with our address, owes taxes due to a discrepancy in the audit. We were not audited and do not owe back taxes. He said he has verification from the U.S. postal service of the 3 letters they mailed us to that effect. When I challenged him, he said he would send an investigative officer with paperwork to our house to take him into custody and hung up on me. This is an obvious scam.
