Here it is, late March of 2016, and David Gray is back on the phone again. His recording is getting old and fuzzy, but what a generous guy to want to help me like this ! I suspect because it's getting close to tax time ?
It has called my answering machine three times today. Claims to be treasury need to urgently call him or I could go to jail. wonder how many folks fall for this nonsense. US government does not call you. They show up or send registered mail.
Well, this is something different. I didn't pick up, and the message was some gravelly mostly-incomprehensible ramble. The caller identified himself as David Gray, and said something about the government and something I needed to do or else face serious consequences, but I couldn't make out what. Weird stuff, and probably nasty enough to merit the attention of law enforcement.
P.S. I Googled the number and saw someone's note on another site: "Reported him to Treasury inspector general at 800.366-4484. My local police office said they've had a bunch of calls about this guy recently." Not surprising; something this blatant is going to get some attention.
Same comments as everyone else. Anyone who calls you saying they represent the treasury or IRS is a fraud UNLESS you have received a notice in the mail from IRS which alerts you to an account problem.
Voice message the guy left,
"Hi. My name is great. This is in did contact sheet. Regarding, and 4. Flip action. I think you did 5 United States Treasury standing here at i, cos, Hello intentional second time. To avoid finished appearance before a magistrate. Judge for a grand jury, or federal criminal us. My. It is 3237. Bank 56 I repeat It's 729-3656 Hi twice call picked it up and how who. Thank you."
We have been receiving repeated calls from the (323) 729-3656 number stating that we did not adhere to the IRS notice CP503. I called back after a few of their attempts to contact us and after my husband spoke to them and explained what he was told. I spoke to someone I believe in India or from India from his accent. I told him that I have never rec'd the notice he mentioned and that he must be a scam and I was going to contact the DoJ but it appears I should contact the Treasury Inspecter General at (700) 366-4484. He did hang up on me when I told him that I thought he knew he was lying.I did not give any information to him, yet he stated my name from the caller id #.
