Received a call this afternoon from David Miller from # 323-786-8580. It's regarding a very important matter and to call back immediately or have my rating attorney call him at the dept of legal affairs, US treasury. When I called the number back, the message for his name is now Mike Lee. It's got to be a scam.
On Friday 21st of November 2014 at 3.32 P.M. I received a message on my answerphone from a man with an Indian accent who has an Anglo Saxon name. He says that his name is Roy Williams and he claims to be with the Department of legal affairs. The phone number that he left is 323 786 8580. He said that the call was in regard to a very important issue and this was a notification concerning enforcement action started on my name.
He also suggested that I have an attorney make the call and that delay in returning his call would turn into a legal mess. At the end of the message he said , "Have a blessed day."
I dialed the number and heard an answering machine with a man who also has an Indian accent. This time he identified himself as Michael Williams. He included the word "officer" as a prefix before his name. I left a message inquiring as to his hours of operation.
Here are further actions that I have taken. I contacted the Federal Trades Commission and filed a written complaint. I have also posted several comments online in the hope that I can hasten legal action to be taken against the Indian man along with his Indian companions. I went online and and attempted to trace the call. I came across several individuals who received calls from the man who speaks with an Indian accent and goes by multiple European names.
Bearing in mind that I am current on all of my payments and I have had my taxes prepared by H & R block for the past 21 years so this call makes no sense to me. At the time of posting this comment, I will be visiting the local police department within a couple of hours to report the incident.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I had a feeling that the call was a scam because my husband and I do not have any outstanding debts and are current on our payments! I was concerned but still a bit bothered and thought about reporting the caller, Roy, to the CBI; however, I erased the message. This morning, I was informed that the news has picked up this scam and has warned vulnerable people to not give them money or pay attention to their threats. And, I am going to forward this information on to my family and friends in case they are not yet aware of this scam. Peace out!
