i just received a call from 234-56786 @ 10:15 so i didnt answer. They left a message stating to call 323-795-2099 Walsh & Peters LLP and ask for David A Williams or else they will be issuing a warrant for my arrest on tomorrow @ 11:00. This is some foreign people that needs to be stopped. She will not leave her name. Say's i need to contact them before the end of today or i can send them some money.
Anyone can call and say they're an attorney. Or that you owe them money. Or that there's a warrant out for your arrest. Only problem: debt is civil, not criminal, so no one is going to be arrested. Telling you that you're going to be arrested is a violation of federal law. Misrepresenting himself as an attorney is another violation of federal law. Please do report your caller to the FTC, FBI and your state's Attorney General. You may also want to report this to your local police department too.
And it goes without saying - NEVER pay any caller unless they mail - do not accept email or fax - proof of debt/proof they can legally collect said debt. Refusal to mail this documentation within five days of their first call to you is another violation of federal law, and as such, you should not pay them - per the FDCPA (Fair Debt Collection Practices Act)!

This person said there is a warrant out for my arrest. He stated in a text message that he was an attorney. The funny thing is, he gave me the person's name he was looking for. I thought that this was weird.
