I got a msg this morning from this number in regards to my wedding band set. They insisted on pay pal as the mode of payment. When I said I did not have a pay pal account they tried to bully me into signing up an account to accept payment and then ship the rings out, It was very evident to me that it was a scam as I received 3 responses to my kijiji ad for the rings and 2 of the 3 had identical wording and the 3rd had almost identical wording.
(323) 835-1897 This number contacted me from craigslist add wanting to send me a fake money order for a phone i had for sale. I read that these people send you a fake money order then you get charged by your bank for the fake and your product is lost forever.f
Sometimes they go beyond stealing the merchandise. In fact, often they don't even want the merchandise. Cash money is frequently the goal. In these cases they send you an amount in excess of what you are asking, along with some lame excuse for having done so. Then there is an equally lame story about why they would like you to send the excess along to someone.
It usually goes sort of like this, but there are MANY variations:
"Dear beloved Craigslist friend,
I know you were only asking $50 for the skateboard, but in my country skateboards are illegal, so praise God that you are having one to sell to me. We can only buy money orders here in amounts of $500, so I am sending you that amount. I ask that you keep $50 for the skateboard, and another $50 to pay for the shipping and to pay you for the extra trouble I am asking. Would you please send the other $400 to Sister Bertrille at the Convent Santanco where they are keeping my orphan daughter? They need the money for food and medicine. I am trusting in you as the orphans are in great need. The address to send it to is: A. Robber, etc., etc."

Yeah someone using the number 323 835-1897 was texting regarding my ad on kijiji and they constantly insisted on paying way more for my items than needed and even went as far as to ask for my full name and my PayPal account address. They wanted me to ship the items to West Africa. Right then and there I just declined their offer because it made absolutely NO SENSE! They talking about they're Nephew and not knowing how online purchasing works yet they know about PayPal? Almost everything you purchase online now a days is through PayPal...it just did not add up! I hope this helps someone out! It's a scam and do not fall for it!!!!
