This just another Ill-disguised scam to suck money out of the unwary and obtain personal data for identity theft. The number is spoofed, robo-called on a tie-line. Blocked.
Federal Grant Call from Scammers...
5 times these people have called today. I recognized the same voice. First time they called from: 561-598-4635, then they called me from this number: 202-754-2200 3 times, then 323-886-0762. It is apparent they are bouncing their numbers through a VOIP system. Their servers will call first to see if anyone is home. If someone answers the system will call back with a person ready to talk.
So, I get this call from this number and this woman with a foreign accent says I am eligible to receive a federal grant for $9,200. So when I asked what federal dept. had authorized this outlay of money to me, the call was immediately disconnected.
The lady said I was chosen to receive 9k grant from US Govt and would never have to pay it back. She hung up when I asked to be taken off their calling list. I blocked their number.
