I picked up this call, even though I did not recognize it, because it was in my local area code for a change. I said, "Hello?" and a man was laughing on the other end, as if he was talking to someone else. I think he may have said "hello" a few times, then said "naw, I'm in the car though." and "allright I'll just come out." laughed more and then hung up. I called the number back and got a recorded message from the operator saying that the number had been disconnected or is no longer in service. Did I just get pocket dailed by a scammer?
I received a call from 896 5568. Since I did not recognize the number, I did not answer. When the call went to the answering mode, the caller hung-up. What I did then was to block that number. If your phone carrier has this feature, it will be worthwhile. When that caller calls, your Caller ID display will read "caller blocked". If you like you can check you Caller ID and verify the blocked #.
