Don't answer them when they say "can you hear me?"   If you say yes they record your "yes" then use it as your permission that you ordered something..

Answered this call expecting a call from a contractor. Definite call center with silent pause then lots of background noise. Caller asked to speak with George. I said no one here by that name and caller said sorry to bother you and hung up.
