Got a call today, my caller ID shows the number is in Illinois. Looked like a weird number so I didn't answer it. I called back and it said the phone call could not be completed as dialed. Probably spam!
I've had multiple creditors calling me for a couple years due to little business to the point my credit was shot and I owed $25K or so.
After telling them all the same true story over and over, that I had no work and didn't know when I could make a payment I finally just turned off the ringer for those callers and didn't pick up unknowns. They actually all quit calling one by one and for a few months life was a bit better. This was around 6mos ago. Well my father had cancer and passed in peace without pain this past November. Last month or so I got a call or two from creditors and now a couple more.
I'd bet the farm (your farm) that (331) 000-0001 is one of em.
These folks are tough in that they figure out who your relatives are and call them asking for you so they must also know when a parent passes away and start calling again hoping to cash in on an inheritance. So that's what I'm thinking but it's just a guess.
For what it's worth, if you're tired of the calls you can ask them to stop contacting you by phone and by law they have to.
I have no doubt they'll pound your mailbox but it beats the phone nagging.
I just made two contacts and named them 'creditors', added every new number that called to the contact and set the ringer to OFF. My phone now can also block the caller as well but I wanted to know when I was called.
If anyone has info on the inheritance thing I'd like to know but I'm gonna pay them all off regardless. They take like 20-25c on the dollar but mainly it's the right thing to do. Everyone but 2 or 3 people I talked to about my debt issues said I should file bankruptcy but I believe in taking responsibility for your actions and if you don't in this case, everyone else pays and that is so wrong!
Don't get me wrong, the public got reamed in the hole by the big guys when they WAY over-extended credit to us which was plain greed and sure enough they collapsed. But we got reamed and they were bailed out! Why the hell doesn't the government throw us a bone instead of the crooks who roped us in when we were desperate?!
Anyway, I digress....
I was fortunate in that my father was a hard worker and loved what he did because he had invested a surprising sum that he left for us and my $25 thou or so can be cleaned up for about 10 grand.
I didn't think I'd ever pay it off and was actually seriously considering welfare or whatever it's called so I'm so glad I held out.
I'm gonna feel real proud when I pay it off and I hope you do the same.
P.S. I called back and the number was stated to be no longer in service. Dirtbag bottom feeding weasels! Can't really blame em though...
Both my wife and my cell phones received calls 1 minute apart (we have consecutive numbers. Mid-afternoon Mountain Time. No messages left. 000 exchange looks totally bogus.
Got a call from this number today at 9:42am EST... Did NOT answer.. No message left. Just curious are they only calling iphones, or androids as well....
