Got a call today, my caller ID shows the number is in Illinois. Looked like a weird number so I didn't answer it. I called back and it said the phone call could not be completed as dialed. Probably spam!
Got a call from this number at 12:02 PM with a recording about lowering my credit card interest rate. Curiosity got the better of me, though I suspected it was a scam. It said to press 9 I think for more information, which I did. A man with an Indian accent (from India, not America) answered. I asked if this was from (my) bank, and the caller said yes (right), and that he wanted to lower my credit card interest rate, but wanted me to give him my credit card number. I told him he should already have that information and he should just need to verify the last 4 or first 4 numbers. He then responded with the incorrect numbers first 4 numbers (wanting me to correct him). I refused. He was adamant and persistent in incorrectly telling me what the first 4 numbers of my card were, and then changed the numbers to something else. It was clear he was guessing and desperately wanted me to "straighten him out" by giving him my cc number. I hung up.
I read that this is a spoofed number, meaning the person calling has some device to trick your caller ID.I was called 4/15/14. 300pm LA.No message left.Have been getting a lot of unidentified callers on my cell ,various hours no message left.I know its not debt collector because I have good credit. Must be a fisher/scammer
