Someone claiming to be my father-in-law's cousin living in a particular area of California (he has a cousin by the name given who lives in the area referenced) called from this number two weeks ago saying that he was to be in our area today and would like to stop for a visit. He called again this morning to confirm his arrival time. A couple hours prior to his supposed arrival, he called back claiming to have been in an accident and asking if we could help with some type of payment. I spoke with him this time and when I began asking certain questions, he hung up. Not surprisingly my father-in-law's cousin, when contacted, was surprised to hear from us and, of course, had no upcoming travel plans. Scam.
Scam. In my case the caller was Spanish speaking with mexican accent. Claiming to be the nephew of my husband. He then started to call me Tia (aunt). He asked for my name. I refused to give it to him. He hung up.
