Called in spanish and asked me if i knew who he was. I said Jaime and he said yes. He proceeded to tell me that he had a surprise for me and that he was in town and wanted to see me. I asked him where he was at. He said Tijuana. I started getting suspicious and I asked him about his son Juanito (a made up name) He said he was fine and that he was with him. Than i asked him about his daughter Marisel (a made up name) again he told me she was fine. I Realized it was a SCAM. Hung ip on him.
I had the same exact story happened to me today. Since we have so much family in Mexico I didn't think twice to ask more questions. I was more excited of the simple fact that we were going to see a family member that we hadn't seen in yrs. he claimed that he had had an accident and needed my help. I didn't question it and was stupid enough to actually send money requested to help him and even went as far as offering to go pick him up. Yes I lost money and I feel so stupid for falling for this. After he called me a second time asking for more money is when I finally followed my gut instinct and decided to call my uncle in Mexico and to my surprise my cousin who I thought was here answered the phone. At that moment my heart dropped and realized I was scammed. When he called me again to ask me if I had the chance to moneygram him the money I told him the I had no more money and that I caught on to his scam. After I started looking into the number and researched it these people are calling from Mexico and by the looks of it the Guadalajara area. A very expense lesson learned... I just hope that these [***] get what they deserve someday...
