The person who called you is a scam artist. He has over 100 numbers he calls from. He is scary, but don't give him any money - otherwise he wins! He can't arrest you. He has a strong accent and can be forceful on the phone, but DO NOT give him any money. If he calls back, tell him he is a scammer. He called me too!
There is a call coming from this number as well as 916-287-3815 that is trying to extort money by saying that you owe from a Check Cashing place or a Pay Day Loan establishment. He said that I was going to be arrested if I didn't pay over $8,000.00 I let him speak and read an entire document which outlined some terrible legal mumble. I did not just get off the boat from some foreign land. The time he called from the 916 number, I asked him to speak a little slower because I couldn't understand the what he was saying. He cursed me out and hung up the phone.
I've been getting these calls almost ten times a day, he asks for two different men (I'm clearly a woman as my voice message illustrates) and threatens legal action and wishes me the best as my inaction will unfold on me. I've listed over 50 different numbers and can't get my mobile phone to block any more. I'm on the DNC list. I don't owe any pay day loan, my name isn't Jeremy or John. I called him back just now and told him he must take me off his calling list. He asked me who it is and I wouldn't give him my name. He mumbled something in a heavy accent before I could give the number that needs to be removed and then he hung up. Not sure how to handle this as I cannot seem to track him down.
Called and used a script that was nearly word for word the same as a previous scammer that had called last week and tried it-I didn't even let him finish speaking before I told him that I knew he was a scammer, that he was to remove my number from his list, and not to call me again.
