I had the same thing happen to me. Said they were going to issue a warrant for my arrest.
Wanted me to send them $790.25 or go to jail. the caller was from India, said her name was Erika Perkins.
There are no details because there is no debt. This is a criminal extortion ring operating out of India. ABC News released an investigative report on it in June. The FTC has indicted one of its ringleaders for criminal fraud:
I just got a call from an idiot at this number. Told me to be ready to arrested and that a lawsuit was filed against me, he would make my life miserable, and to pay up! I told him I needed more documentation, needed his information, and he hung up. What a butt munch! I also pulled up my county's court record to see if a lawsuit has been filed against me, to which it has not, and I informed him of such.
This is a scam under investigation by FBI and the Federal Trade Commission. Do not talk to them, hang up and ignore. They are not in this country and because of this they cannot be arrested. Ignore, trust me, I am a victim.
I was one of the victims on the ABC News Report, Alfalfa. You are correct. Please, please, please everyone, pass the word this is a scam. They call from different numbers from all over the country. They have companies here is the USA collecting the money for them and then sending it to India. FBI is trying to get the companies collecting the money. Litigation is just beginning. I lost almost $2000 to these creeps simply because of their relentless calling and scare tactics. If you talk to them, the threats become worse. They even called my work and talked to my supervisor and told him I owed all this money, etc. This is totally against the law but they do not care. Luckily, my boss laughed it off.
