Similar to the above... Call transferred form operator to my work phone number, call displayed as "336-272-9939" which is from North Caroline area code. The caller had a heavy accent, and said their name was Matthew Martin. Caller asked if this was "My Name". I said yes, and the call was immediately disconnected (I guess they hung up). After thinking about it, decided to run a phone number lookup on google to see if this was a scam... looks like it was... lucky me.
Guy called my company (heavy middle eastern accent) asking for a person who hadn't been employed here for 2 years-told him no one here by that name-he said "yes you do" I said No, I don't". this went on for 2 more times-finally he said "I will shut your company down and may you rot in hell"!
That's the con artist's (especially foreign) way of going down with guns blazing. They know they're not going to get anything they want, so the next alternative is to threaten, insult, get vulgar, or be obnoxious, since you didn't fall for the pitch. Never a bad idea to just hang up on random calling foreigners.
