After having my vehicle serviced this a.m., I got a call from this number on our landline, with details about the car (year, make, model), telling me that they wanted to follow up on my warranty. The caller had a heavy Hispanic accent. I asked if they were in any way connected with the manufacturer of the vehicle, or the local dealer, which they admitted they weren't. Slam dunk.
The info about the car and our telephone number is not publicly available. I have alerted the servicing dealer; suspect an insider feeding data to a boiler room scam operation for extended service contracts.
Called and said they were from Publishers Clearing House and that I was eligible for a billion dollar prize if I would just give them my credit card info... and when I said that I didn't HAVE a credit card, the line went dead. Strange, that. Publishers Clearing House says on their website that they DO NOT make phone calls requesting card information, so don't give anything to them!
