I feel bad for unknowing people who may be alarmed by these loser's calls. The following is a quote from the I.R.S website at https://www.irs.gov/uac/Newsroom/Scam-Phone-C ... uspicious-Calls
“These telephone scams are being seen in every part of the country, and we urge people not to be deceived by these threatening phone calls,” IRS Commissioner John Koskinen said. “We have formal processes in place for people with tax issues. The IRS respects taxpayer rights, and these angry, shake-down calls are not how we do business.”
Just received a call from this number...automated message from the IRS (same as everyone else), so I decided to call back. When I did a gentlemen with an Eastern Indian accent answered the "Internal Revenue Service" - I said "pardon me" - he repeated it. I laughed and I told him "I rather doubt it because it this is a mobile no. and I had just received a call from that it." Line went dead!
This is a massive national scam. The IRS does not call and threaten taxpayers. If they want to contact you, they will thru registered USPS notices. If you receive IRS scam calls, please go to IRS.gov and learn how to file a federal complaint against the many scammers pretending to be the IRS.
Same thing, IRS calling to advise me of a suit... What a bunch of fools they are.......The IRS conducts all business by mail. Just block the call and be done with it.
I received a call indicating I had a pending lawsuit against me by the IRS - it is a SCAM - IRS communicates via mail.
Caller ID indicated the call was coming from a cell phone.
