I wasn't called by a suspicious character like a lot of people here. I was sent a picture message. At first I ignored it, it kept notifying me so I got annoyed and I clicked it. I asked me to download the image. I clicked it and it won't download. I assume it was a supposed to be an ad and it just wasn't working but I thought I'd report it jus in case
Images are binary files.
Binary files can contain malware.
While you were waiting for the "image" do download, the malware could have infected your phone or computer.
Return here to get more instructions how to handle the problem.
If you do not return, we will assume your computer turned into a puddle of poo.

No it was actually some sort of malware and your phone is now infected. Never click on a link in an unknown email or text message. Forward unwanted texts to 7726 so that your carrier will block them, and also now take your phone in toi have the malware removed. Also change all your passwords, etc. that might have been on that phone (not from the phone until after it has been cleaned)
