My God - look how many years these post have been collecting.... this scam is everywhere. Got a call several times over the past few weeks. First of all - the voice is a choppy mechanical voice -- I guess that's to hide the heavy accent the person on the other end has... I know we think it's clear that this is a scam, but unfortunately there are alot of people, especially elderly who panic and fall for it. Please be sure to spread the word.
This is just one of many scams that I get weekly - its ridiculous.... oh and by the way... yesterday I won 2.5 million dollars!!! all I have to do is send $275 through Western Union to a woman's name in Philadelphia to get my claim number LOL They had the nerve to call back last night to see if I sent it... I told them my friends wouldn't loan me the $275 so I'll just forfeit the millions..... oh and don't call me again.
I called the number back yesterday to tell them to remove my number or else and they hung up on me when I said "you aren't the IRS, stop lying". I had the number added to my blocked calling list with the phone company, and they called again today with the same stupid recorded message. What is scary is that there are people out there who don't know better - perhaps the elderly - that will be scammed out of money! I just don't understand how these companies continue to get away with what they do, disgusting.
I received a call from this number but it went to my answer machine. It was a robotic voice saying that I was being suit under my name (though my name was mentioned... just "under your name") and I needed to call the number back. My caller ID picked up as "New York, NY".
Started calling my home at 7:30 AM today and than 3 other attempts with the same stupid recording. Folks BLOCK this number. Well documented in above comments
