this number called me several times saying that they are from the internal revenue and that there is a case against me, the man said he is in NY and he sounds Indian.
Officer Roger Hardy called and claimed to have a lawsuit against my husband's social security number and my husband needs to call him back immediately. Now that I researched this I see where this is a scam. I am thinking I am going to have to have my home number changed. He claimed to be with the New York Police Department in Brooklyn. Seriously contemplating giving the NYPD a call.
I just got a call from Officer Steve Douglas. He stated that there was a lawsuite against me. And he advised me not to interrupt him and this was all being recorded. I would not verify my SS # and he started to get frustrated with me. I told him that I was not verifying any information over the phone that I don't know who I am really speaking to. Then he got really upset. He keeps repeated calling my work phone. I have told him this is a scam stop calling and he just keeps calling and I just keep hanging up the phone. I wonder if he will ever quit calling.
This person states that he is Officer Steve Douglas and he is calling because there is a lawsuite against me for check fraud. And He got extremely upset that I would not verify my information (such as SS #) over the phone to him. He has repeatedly keeeps calling my work phone # and its getting very annoying.
Scammers pretend to be law enforcement (police, sheriff, Feds, AG's Office, fake cop agencies with made-up names) to extort your personal info (ID theft) or fines for fictitious crimes.
