Phone call came stating a criminal case was against us and we needed to contact them immediately.  347-305-2023 If we did not do so they were sorry for what was about to happen and how things would unfold.  I phoned them back stating we did not have any criminal cases.  They asked if I was me and I said yes.  They said they were from the IRS and that we owed 2012 & 2013 taxes.  I explained that we did not owe 2012 taxes but we were making payments on 2013. They stated that there was an error in our return for 2012 and needed to take care of that year as well.  They said if I didn't leave immediately to go to my bank and get the money that I would find a deputy on my door step to arrest me with a warrant in 30 minutes.  I got scared to death and went.  They wouldn't let me off the phone.  If I got off the phone or spoke to someone about what I was doing the warrant would be placed into action and the police would come and pick me up.  I explained I was going to the police because things were sounding fishy and the man told me that I could go but if I did the warrant would be put into action because I would be delaying the process of paying our taxes and I would be talking to someone about the subject.  Again I was freaking out because I didn't want to go to jail.  They sent me to Foodlion near my bank to purchase RELOADIT cards.  I was to get the limit and put $500.00 on however many I could then go to another Foodlion and get the remainder until I'd put $5,693.00 total.  Well the lady at Foodlion refused to sell any because of the scams going around.  This was the first I'd heard about any.  I told the guy that if I found out I was being scammed I'd hunt him down.  Anyway long story short I was on the phone constantly for over 5 hours, away from my mom who needed me home and without anything to eat, drink or go to the restroom.  So the next option was to go to Walmart to use Moneygram.  I had to get 4 papers and 2 would go to Yosvany Padilla with $1500.00 on each and 2 would go to Dennis Delgado Caballero with the remainder.  Both in Miami Florida.  Moneygram caught what was going on, held the money and actually had me go back over there for my refund.  That just doesn't happen.  I have this mans voice on my house phone also and will be making a recording for law enforcement.  I am normally a smart person but when they started talking about jail I panicked and did what they asked.  If it happens again I am going to pretend to follow their instructions but instead of going to my bank I'm driving to the Sherrif's office!

You do understand that local law enforcement is never involved in US income tax disputes, do you not?  IRS has no authority to call on local law enforcement and law enforcement is never involved in tax matters.  Please say you understand that. OK?  'k.  And you do understand that nobody goes to jail for mistakes on their income taxes, do you not?  Please say you understand that.

Christ!  How could you fall for that when you were TOLD by the Foodlion people that it was  a scam?  I mean, you believed some idiot scammer who cold calls you, but don't believe someone who knows the scams?  How's that work?  It's been all over the news.   Jeezuz.  I hope you didn't lose too much money.

Well known  scam.

I’m an Enrolled Agent with the IRS (Inactive). IRS does not initiate contacts by phone.  US mail only.   IRS does not file lawsuits.   Court action, if any is handled by the DOJ and all parties are entitled to legal assistance if it is a criminal matter.  But--tax disputes are for the most part civil matters.  90% of all IRS tax disputes are settled administratively.  IRS has absolutely no authority to call on local law enforcement for anything. Local law is never involved in IRS tax disputes. IRS does not threaten to involve local law enforcement or to arrest you for nonpayment of federal taxes.  IRS has no powers of arrest.    If LE is necessary, US Marshals do the job.  IRS does not cold call anyone and demand immediate payment of  money.  IRS does not ask for financial information over the phone.   IRS does not accept Green card money paks for payment in any case.  No one is prosecuted for ordinary tax disputes. IRS has absolutely no authority over anyone's professional license. Professional licensing is handled by state governments.  Yes, levies on property to satisfy an existing tax obligation do occur, but only after a very long period of negotiation. And yes, liens are placed on individuals but  usually after a lot of negotiation and a failure to reach a settlement.    All determinations of tax liability are subject to appeals.  All  contacts by the IRS are initiated by US mail.

Please believe what I say.  And do your own research.  Google this scam out!  The sad thing is, they almost or maybe did succeed in scamming you and that will make you a mark for another scam.

People are still falling for this scam.  I just don't understand it.

ScamHater
I've gotten several of these calls and the person on the other end of the line has been the recipient of a temper that is fueled by scammers.  I see red when I get them and my normally kind spirit turns into a beastly one. *lol*

For those who are not informed as to the IRS process for collecting back taxes, the previous posts have been excellent.  In addition to that info, a tax payer would have a chance to dispute any taxes the IRS claims are in arrears.  Do the research, people (google is very helpful) and don't ever go down without a fight when it comes to your money.

Case number and then message:
The moment you receive this message I need you or your retained attorney off record to return the call. The issue at hand is extremely time sensitive. Do not disregard this message and do return the call if you don't return the call and I don't hear from your attorney either, then the only thing I can do is wish you good luck as the situation unfolds on you
