second call today. First was a local number so I answered. They said "this master card" has been locked. Press one to continue. I called my provider. They said they never call from a local number. Now this one called from a NY number. I didn't answer and checked here. Looks like same company, same scam.
I got a call on my cell phone from this number. It was an automated voice, very foreign sounding, saying my MasterCard debit card had been lost or did they say locked, they were very hard to understand, and to reactivate it, press 1. Trouble is, I don't have a MasterCard debit card. I pressed "0" to talk to a real person and I was directed back to the original options. I hung up.
Also got a call on my cell phone from this number. Said my Master Card was deactivated and wanted me to press 1. Recently we have had our cards compromised but those calls were always from a live person and this was a mechanical voice. The call id said it was from New York. After I did press 1 I got the same pre-recorded message. Then it wanted my credit card number. Of course I hung up.
