Took call from this number: FBC Vacations (Florida Bahamas Cruise Vacations). Looking to have me purchase two $300 tickets for 14 day all incl. cruise.
They obtained my number via a ballot I filled out for cruise vacation draw at local festival booth.
No idea if they are legit. www.book4florida.com is website they provide
a person called from this number saying i won a cruise to florida and mexico because i recently filled out a ballot at a wedding show, turns out this is a fraudulent company, they want you to give them a deposit of $229 per person on a credit card...so basically they are stealing your money, SAY NO TO THESE PEOPLE!!!!
it is a scam.. i got the same call.. they didn't answer any of my calls back.. didn't answer any of my questions.. the website looks completely home-made... what kind of company doesn't have an answering machine anyways? DAMN the SCAMMERS!!
July 16, 2009 I received a call (347) 448-8892 from a person informing me that I had won a trip from the draw I entered at the New Westminster Show and Shine draw. I had indeed submitted my name and phone number in draw at that event which caused me to make the mistake of believing that good fortune was apron me. The sales person was very good at there job and I am very embarrassed to admit that sold me a package, and I paid $598.00 on my VISA. I had not hung up the phone before I realized I had made a mistake. I called them back the next day and told them I had changed my mind and wanted a refund, and spent an hour on the phone with one of there’re so called “specialist” they said that refunds are not in there company’s policies, and just kept trying to sell me on it. I believe the company name is Florida Bahamas Cruise Vacations, and there website is www.book4florida.com 1(800) 231-1298
Research on the internet has informed me that:
The contract is covered by under section 559.933 of Florida State statutes which states that “It shall be unlawful for any seller of travel or assignee:
• to fail or refuse to honor a purchaser's vacation certificate request to cancel if such request is made … within 30 days from the date of purchase or receipt of the vacation certificate, whichever occurs later
• to fail to refund any and all payments made by the vacation certificate purchaser within 30 days after receipt of the certificate and notice of cancellation made pursuant to this section, if the purchaser has not received any benefits pursuant to the vacation certificate.”
I have learned an important lesson (Although something I thought I already knew), and in the future anyone calling me to try and sell something, I am going to tell them that I do not conduct business over the phone. I would be interested in knowing if anything else that attended the Show and Shine in New Westminster is experiencing the same situation.
