i share the same experience, i was skeptical so i googled the number and saw this post. he had a english sounding voice and im glad i didn't give him my information.
My son just got the same call from 347-448-8892...english guy...Harry Church, or something like that. He was told he had won an 8 day cruise...Florida to the Bahamas because he had filled out an entry at the Las Vegas Renaissance Fair. Fortunately, he had the good sense to call me and ask me to google this. Something needs to be done to stop these scammers. Why do events allow these people to solicit like this. SHAMEFUL.
I'm glad I came across this complaint site (and a few others). I got a call a few days ago because I filled out a ballot at the Taboo Naughty but Nice show in Vancouver. First I thought it couldn't be a scam because it wasn't some random person calling me, it was from a ballot I, myself, filled out. But then of course the advice of 'you shouldn't have to pay for a prize' clicked in. I'm glad I checked this all out before I made my decision. I told them I'd call back within a few days; I didn't wanna give out my credit card # right then on the phone. I'm glad I didn't now.
I was at the same Taboo show as you, and got the same call. Unfortunately, I was not as smart as you, and let them charge what was left on my credit card as a deposit, thankfully only 149...not the whole 600. I'm so disappointed, I never win anything, and thought I had gotten so lucky! So now I'm worried that they have my credit card info, and can mess with my card whenever they want!
I got the call too, i filled out a ballot at sexapalooza in Ottawa. It was for a trip. They called me the next day and told me I won. then asked me if i had a major credit card. I laughed and told them no. They said they needed it for id confirmation purposes. And that I was disqualified. Then i looked up the number on google and came here.
