Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $40.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.
i got a call today from this number and they said it was about the labor department. the heavy accent, female, made it very hard to understand. i'm not really sure what she said. she used my name and appeared to be reading from a script as she paused a few times as if trying to find her place. lol i'm not sure why the labor department would be filing anything against me. i don't have a job and i was born in the country. i'm guessing she's going by my married last name, which is unique to my husband's family, and assuming we are immigrants. ridiculous this is obviously a scam. i think these same ppl called me several months ago saying i had a lawsuit against me by the IRS. obviously i never called them back. the IRS does it's correspondence through letters. and they are local. this is illegal and if you call them back, threaten to sue them and they will probably hang up on you.
Received a call from someone with an Indian accent who claimed to be from the US Dept. of Treasury saying we were going to be arrested for not paying back taxes. He also said that if we called a lawyer it would be a strike against us. He also said that "officers of the law" were coming to arrest us immediately. He said we must pay in cash to some third party, presumably a government agency.
same as above - heavy accent, "Dept of Legal Affairs", call back with attorney, delay will result in huge legal mess. I think we should do more than put info out here. I know it's probably a waste of time but if these scams rise to the level of criminal activity, we should report them. I contacted my representative with the information.
