Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $40.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.
got a call today from this number Asking for my daughter-in-law. I asked who was calling and this guy with a very blunt Indian accent said the United States treasury . I stated she does not live here and he asked for her phone number, which I did not give but told him I would take a number and have her call. I tried the number myself and it rang and rang with no answer. Decided to google and found out it was scam. Idiots!
I got the same exact message as Jane did. They had me so scared, I believed caller and was scammed. I hope they find who is responsible for this and they be arrested and do jail time. Horrible people out there!!
the IRS doesn't arrest you. they will send you a letter in the mail first and go from there - they don't call or email. garnish your wages - absolutely they will do that. arrest you? no. you should be prepared to get more calls like this. best thing to do is ignore/don't answer and don't call back. i hope you didn't send them a lot of money.
I called this phone number (347-474-6954) back and was told that the Department of Treasury will be pressing charges against me and that the police will be coming to my house to arrest me. I then told the scam artist on the phone that my husband is a police officer and not to send one out to arrest me and that I will just come in peacefully. He hung up. I then proceeded to call him back for the next 10 minutes. Funny.. he didn't want to talk to me anymore.
Went to my parents today, where I don't live anymore, to find out I had just received a phone call from "Shawn Anderson" from the United States Treasury.... I'm glad I "Google" the number and saw these posts!
