caller made it seem as if they dropped their headphones and asked me to hold on a second. After being apologetic they went on to say that i stayed at a hotel and now they want to offer me a special deal.
I too got a call from this number - during dinner time, on a do-not-call-listed work phone. How many laws does that violate?
Caller ID said only "New York, NY". Pretty sure it's not Trump Tower. I get a lot of calls from 347 area code but 99% are from robo-calls, and I live in NY (most legit callers a.follow the law b.are using 212 or 718 area codes, at least the big companies with landlines).
Sure would be nice if the telephone companies were giving the go-ahead and technology to solve this epidemic and simply screen out robocalls and faked CID's. (Give us tools and controls and our lives will grow incalculably). AT&T promised a task force and action by August 2015. Consumers Union has a petition with a huge number of signatures. Sen. Schumer (NY) proposed legislation (like anything pro-consumer is going to be heard for a long time in Congress!). The age of populism? Tell our telcos to get off the dime - OUR dime - and give us the tools just sitting there waiting for us to be able to get them, as telco customers who want to enjoy the right of privacy and freedom to avoid identified criminals and spammers by having accurate CID and easy blocking tools.
