A man named James Kamada just called our newspaper, new guy answered and I overheard conversation, he wanted to run a classified liner. New guy was struggling to understand his thick accent, I heard "free motorcycle" and told him "SCAM"!!! "James" gave a credit card number with a local billing address, guarantee it's stolen credit card info. He gave email for reply in the ad,
[email protected], he didn't want a phone number in the ad. EVERY detail of this call was the mark of a scam, we didn't run the credit card and are obviously not going to run the ad. I wish more people at local newspapers recognized the signs of these scams, it would help prevent their local readers from getting fleeced.
