Incoming Fax beeps - on my cell, so I can't "turn on the fax". The # is either spoofed or is an internet-based # used by an IP or eFax service for out-going fax calls only.
Yeah, same here slow low toned beeping. I have heard there are services that test who answers phones for later telemarketing use. Let hope its a fax machine eh?
The number might belong to a Fax routing service. After numerous calls with that annoying Fax beep, I finally connected it to a Fax machine. Low and Behold, it was an actual FAX from Business A to Recipient B. However, I was not Recipient B. Both Business A and Recipient B were located in Phoenix, AZ (where I also live) based on the cover sheet information. The Caller ID for the FAX I received noted 347-705-8047. Therefore, I assume the 347-705-8047 is a FAX Routing Service (that Business A uses) located in New York. It's not clear who dialed the FAX number, because Recipient B's FAX number was on the cover sheet and no where close to my phone number. Major error in dialing the FAX number because my area code is different from Recipient B. You would think that the Sender of the FAX would double check the phone number after 7 failed automatic redial attempts over several hours. I called the main number for Recipient B from the cover sheet. They were expecting a FAX. I explained the situation, and they were very upset a stranger received the FAX. Sensitive info on the FAX document. I tried to call Business A, but no one answered. Let me know if anyone else has a similar scenario. I'm wondering if the FAX routing service is the one making the dialing error.
