Just received another 1-347-722-8164 call from a man identifying himself as Mr. Rosenberg, claiming to be the president of the MegaMilllions give-a-way. He wanted to know why I had not claimed my $2.5 million prize yet. Playing along I told him I had no intention of sending them $3,000 to claim a phoney prize. He stayed calm and wanted to know who had initially called me and "assured" me the amount I would need to send to claim the prize was considerably less than $3,000. I told him just take it out of my prize money like every other lottery and send me the balance. He said that's not the way it works. And I told him that is the way it works. I then admonished him for being a crook at which point he became silence for awhile before he finally hung up. Yes, these shysters are a very persistent lot but then they have nothing better to do.
A call today from a Patrick Snyder. Caller ID said Brooklyn New York. Caller said I had won 2nd prize, $2.5 million and a 2013 Mercedes in the Manufacturers Mega Millions. Claims I was automatically registered for shopping locally, usin approved credit cards or bank checks and paying my bills on time. I only have to pay Customs Duty & Tariffs ($1,000) and shipping and handling ($1,999.99) and my prize will be delivered personally to my front door.
You haven't "won" anything if you have to pay for it. Legitimate sweepstakes, competitions, etc, do NOT require you to pay a fee to received your prize.
Received call also from Patrick Snyder, stating I have won 2nd prize in my area out of 3 people picked at random (1st prize - $5 mil, 2nd - $2.5 mil, 3rd - $1 mil - all receive 2013 Mercedes). Asked "how do you feel about winning all this?" - I replied I feel like this is a scam and hung up. Several days later another person in my town reported the same offer from "Winner's Circle" but the number was blocked. Caller offered to email "proof" to her that this was no scam and became quite irritated when she refused to divulge any personal info. A third person in town received the $1 million + car offer.
