I've gotten the same email. The number is probably a Skype number, which is why it's not traceable. This is some Nigerian [***] who's running a check scam. Here's how it works: he'll send you a (forged) check, which you will try to cash. There is a 90% chance that your efforts to cash it (should you choose to try) will fail. You may even wind up in jail for trying to pass a fake check. If you succeed, he'll give you the runaround about how you have to send him the money by Western Union or something. THE GOOD NEWS is that it's pretty easy to give HIM the runaround, if you would like to have some fun! Be creative. Make this guy pay.
