Have received several calls that say Customer Service or Customer Support. I accidentally answered one yesterday that said it was about student loans. It is obvious from this site that calls from this number are a scam. No one legit caller is calling to talk about both political topics and reducing student loans. In fact no legit number is going to call you to offer ways to reduce your student loans or interest anyway.
These people are all criminals. Criminals don't follow the rules of the Do Not Call list. You should notice that no real companies are calling to sell you things. Unfortunately we need better technical management from the Telecom companies to identify spoofed numbers and block them.
CID: New York City (Brooklyn). Robotic call and abbreviated msg,(front end cut off) apparent survey and possible political call asking for a telephonic signature regarding the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), and asking if you wish to oppose a 14% increase in electricity rate pricing to press #1, or press #3 to be removed from their list. Call implies that it supports green/alternative energy sources (sources not specified). On its face, a spam electricity rate telemarketing call.
I tried to find other reports on this phone number, but didn't find postings here or other sites. especially from NYC, where the call "apparently" originated, which is an all together separate red flag. If this were a national political issue, why use a Brooklyn landline? If a state issue, the State Regulatory authorities have control and approval over state rate increases, and the caller should have given more, and different detailed information.
FYI, the ARRA was proposed and passed by Congress in Feb. 2009, a stimulus and job-creating/retention part of Obama's economic stimulus package. There were many immediate mixed indicators, and long-term results and evaluation seem to depend on which major political party you listen to. That begs the question of why this call is made in 2015.
I couldn't find any current information on a 2015 proposed act, although there are many legislative pieces presented by both sides on economic growth, energy conservation, etc.
I also Googled ARRA 2015 New York State, since I have a NYS-based (but I am not a City resident) phone number this came in on. NADA. There is a piece in a 2013/14 Economic Report from the state, but nothing pertinent.
At this time I am at a loss to know who or why I received this call; It may be, in fact, a true survey either for or against alternative/green energy sources, or it may be a scam call, either to get the recipient to respond one way or the other, then use that info either to market, or source further calls.
After posting my first comment, I received another call, this time from 347 733 9422. No msg. The similarity of area code and prefix (yes other sites say its Brooklyn, actually White Pages say the Bronx) is a big place and this seems more than coincidental.
Caller left no msg. but things seem to be a bit bleaker, and worse in the city.
