Called and said family member was in terrible accident and that they were very badly hurt and that also that the accident involved their nephew Demanded money to be paid or they would kill family member because they were gang related and drug dealers! Seemed legit because they knew the names of me and my brother.
Seriously? Seemed legit? Did you ever hear of extortion? Just because they knew names doesn't mean anything, especially since they are very adept at prying information out of people. Did you call this family member or the nephew? Were they in an accident? Probably not. So, are you extremely naive or a shill trying to make this scam sound real?
When someone calls you with a message like this, it may register in your head that something isn't right, but your emotions take over, unless of course you don't have any. The OP is trying to do the right thing and let people know about this scam and all you offer is sarcasm? Why not be grateful someone took the time to report this? It's probably due to people like yourself that more of these incidents don't get reported, or maybe you were the one trying to use the scheme? go troll somewhere else.
